West Ham youngsters Josh Cullen and Reece Burke both made their Bolton Wanderers debuts yesterday, only days after the pair joined the club on-loan.

Both Cullen and Burke featured in what was a disappointing but entertaining 3-2 defeat to Leeds United at the Macron Stadium, with the former starting the game for Phil Parkinson’s side and the latter being introduced as a second half substitute.

Wanderers went 1-0 down early on as Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips found the net on 7 minutes, and that misery was compounded shortly after as the Championship’s top scorer from last season Chris Wood made it 2-0 to the visitors.

A late first half strike by Gary Madine looked to have bought the home side back into the tie, however only moments after Phillips went through for his second to take the score to 3-1 at half-time.

An Adam Le Fondre penalty early into the second period gave Wanderers hope, but Parkinson’s side were unable to find an equaliser.

Bolton take on Crewe on Wednesday as they look to bounce back from the defeat, with both West Ham youngsters expected to feature again.
