West Ham will have to pay compensation to reverse their second round Carabao cup fixture should they be drawn at home, says the BBC.

In the case the tie is set for the London Stadium when the draw is made later in the week, the Hammers will instead have to travel away due to the unavailability of their home stadium, and will have to pay compensation to their opponents if the tie is switched.

Home and away clubs in the EFL Cup split gate receipts equally.

The London Stadium is playing host to the World Atheltics Championships and hence will not be fit for use for the Hammers tie at the end of the month.

Slaven Bilic’s side are already having to wait until mid September for their first home game of the Premier League season against Huddersfield Town, and now face further complications due to the Carabao Cup.

The Irons are one of 13 Premier League clubs who did not qualify for Europe in the draw for the second round.
