West Ham are desperate to accelerate contract talks with Manuel Lanzini as Liverpool are thought to want him as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, reports The Sun.

Coutinho has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this summer as Neymar nears leaving the Catalan club for Ligue 1 side PSG, and The Reds have reportedly identified Lanzini as one of the Brazilian’s potential replacements.

The Argentina international caught the eye of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp last season with his impressive performances in the middle of the park. Lanzini scored 8 goals in 39 appearances last year, proving himself to be the worthy successor to Dimitri Payet’s throne. The Frenchman left the London Stadium in January for Marseille, leaving Lanzini to star in the latter half of the season.

Lanzini is not the only player to be offered a new long term contract by the Hammers, with fellow star players Pedro Obiang and Michail Antonio both being handed contract extensions as the club looks to keep hold of it’s most valuable assets going into the coming campaign.

However, with the 24-year-old yet to sign a new contract, his future remains up in the air.
