West Ham have been put on high alert after Benfica have slashed their asking price for summer target Raul Jimenez.

The Mexico international was heavily linked with a move to the Hammers earlier this summer – as well as Premier League rivals Everton – however the striker had a hefty €50 million price tag on his head, a figure West Ham were reluctant to match.

However having had no approaches for their star striker since revealing his astronomical asking price, the Portuguese outfit have now reduced their valuation of Jimenez €40 million in an attempt to attract potential suitors, according to Portuguese Record Daily.

That price is set to drop further, with €40 million still expected to be too big of a sum for a player that spent the majority of last season on the substitutes bench.

Jimenez scored 11 goals last season for the Liga NOS giants, and with the imminent arrival of Inter Milan striker Gabriel Barbosa at the Stadium of Light, the Mexican is set to leave the club in the coming week.
