Former West Ham United trainee and Newcastle and Sunderland player Titus Bramble has signed for 9th tier Stowmarket Town.

Bramble – who earned himself a rather comical reputation as one of the Premier League’s worst ever defenders – spent time with West Ham in the summer of 2013 after being released by Sunderland but was never offered a contract. His only appearance in Claret and Blue came in a calamitous 6-2 pre-season defeat to Cork City.

The former England U21s star’s fall from grace continued on a downward slope from then on. After returning to former club Ipswich, he was again not offered a deal, spending the next four years without a club.

Now, at the age of only 36 (I say only because it seems he has been around forever), Bramble has made his return to the big time with Eastern Counties side Stowmarket Town.

The former Champions League starĀ 292 Premier League appearances over a 13-year period, and is said to be “very comfortable playing at this level” according to Stowmarket boss Rick Andrews.
