Former Celtic striker turned pundit Chris Sutton has stated that he believes current Bhoys forward Leigh Griffiths is better than West Ham signing Javier Hernandez.

Hernandez – who scored 59 times during his Premier League career with Manchester United – joined the Hammers this summer in a £16 million deal from Bayer Leverkusen, much to the delight of the West Ham fans.

However. Sutton believes that Slaven Bilic would have got more value for money should he have spent it on the Scotland international instead.

“Griffiths over Hernandez everyday of the week” said the once Chelsea star on his official Twitter account. The tweet followed his words on BT Sport in which he said the striker “would tear it up in the Premier League” following Celtic’s 5-0 thrashing of Astana in Champions League qualifying.

Griffiths has an impressive scoring record in Scotland, finding the net 89 times in 147 appearances for Celtic, however struggled in his time in England.

The striker was with Wolves between 2010-2014, but managed only 13 goals in 31 appearances in League One.
