An agreement with the EFL board means West Ham will be forfeiting their share of the gate receipts for the club’s Carabao Cup second round tie against Cheltenham Town.

The Hammers were drawn to play at home when the ties were announced last night, however with the London Stadium being unavailable due to the current presence of the World Athletic Championships, the fixture has been reversed at Slaven Bilic’s side will now instead travel to Whaddon Road on later this month.

The agreement with the EFL board will see West Ham forfeit approximately £50,000 in ticket revenue, assuming that average profit made on each ticket is circa £15 and a capacity crowd of 7,200 at Cheltenham’s home stadium.

The reversal of the fixture also means the club will miss out on a hefty potential profit made from ticket sales had the tie indeed have taken place at the 66,000 capacity London Stadium.

The tie, set for August 21st, is the second time in five years the Hammers have been drawn against Cheltenham in the competition.
