Everton club scout Carlo Jacomuzzi has revealed that The Toffees are close to completing the signing of Olivier Giroud for a ‘bargain £20 million’.
Speaking with Radio RMC (via Football 365), Jacomuzzi made the revelation when asked about the club’s interest in Napoli forward Duvan Zapata, who the Serie A side value at around £25 million.
“There are no developments in the negotiations between Everton and Zapata, also because I think Everton are today going to finalise a deal for Giroud for £20 million, the fee is a bargain compared to the £25m being demanded for Zapata.”
Giroud is widely expected to leave Arsenal this summer, and following the Gunners’ all but done deal for Alexandre Lacazette, the Frenchman’s future at the Emirates has been thrown into further doubt.
West Ham were previously favourites to land the former Montpellier hitman, however Everton appear to now lead the chase, much to the dismay of the Hammers fans who have taken to Twitter to express their frustration …
