West Ham are in talks to sign Cologne striker Anthony Modeste, reports Sky Sports.
The Frenchman scored 25 goals in the Bundesliga last season helping his side to a record 5th placed finish in the German top flight.
The Hammers are believed to be prepared to offer a club record fee for the striker in the region of €25 million, however Cologne believe the player to be worth slightly more than that, valuing him instead at €30 million.
A long time a target for the club, it was widely expected that Modeste would complete a move to China with Tianjin Quanjian, however a proposed move fell through last week, subsequently putting the 29-year-old back on the market.
West Ham had tried to sign the striker last season but no such move happened, however fans are hoping this time around they cans secure their man and bring in the 20-goal-a-season forward the club has craved over the past few seasons.
Fans are crying out for the Hammers to complete the move …

Another little fact about Anthony Modeste – he has only missed 2 games through injury in his 4 seasons in the Bundesliga

Modeste is a better signing for West Ham than Giroud.
