West Ham have linked with a move for Wolfsburg and Germany star Maximilian Arnold, reports Sports Witness.

One of Germany’s brightest rising stars, Arnold caught the eye of the Hammers with his performances in the Bundesliga last season, as well as his displays for Germany U-21s, whom he helped win the U21 European Championships.

The Hammers are keen to continue their summer spending after having already spent over £40 million on new players, with club co-Chairman David Sullivan insisting there is still business to be done before the season begins in August.

The Irons have already signed a number of proven Premier League talents in Pablo Zabaleta, Joe Hart, Marko Arnautovic and most recently Javier Hernandez, but are now keen to sign players for the future.

Arnold fits that bill, as at only 23, the German youngster has the prime years of his career ahead of him.

The midfielder is expected to leave Wolfsburg this summer after being quoted as saying: “In football, a lot of things can happen in one month.”
