Everton will complete a deal to sign Olivier Giroud from Arsenal for £20million, according to club scout Carlo Jacomuzzi.

A target for West Ham, Giroud is likely to be given the nod to leave Arsenal this summer after the imminent announcement of Alexandre Lacazette’s arrival at The Emirates.

The Frenchman had a frustrating last season for the Gunners despite finding the net 17 times, as he struggled for consistent playing time. The expected arrival of his countryman Lacazette has now added to that dilemma, with the Lyon striker set to assume the role as the club’s main forward.

Everton have been the business of the Premier League clubs this summer so far, and are now favourites to land Giroud after Jacomuzzi’s recent comments. Speaking on Radio CRC (via Football 365), he said, when questioned about The Toffees interest in Napoli forward Duvan Zapata:  “There are no developments in the negotiations between Everton and Zapata, also because I think Everton are today going to finalise a deal for Giroud for £20 million.

“The fee is a bargain compared to the £25m being demanded for Zapata.”

Should Everton complete the move for the France international as suggested, he would become their sixth signing of the summer after the club have already completed moves for Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez and Henry Onyekuru.

The Merseyside outfit are also expected to be close to completing a deal for former star Wayne Rooney alongside the signing of Giroud.
