The Daily Star have reported that West Ham fans are the ‘worst’ in the Premier League when it comes to hooliganism.
A report made by ticketgum.com stated that football related arrests amongst Hammers fans had risen for a fourth consecutive year, including involvement in a shocking 10% of the 233 incidents aboard trains where football was cited to police during the 2015/16 season.
A BTP spokesman said: “Unfortunately, on football match days, law-abiding members of the public and rail staff are subjected to abusive, obscene and sometimes racially offensive chanting, as well as displays of violent behaviour.
“We adopt a proactive approach to football policing, with officers escorting trains before and after matches and patrolling stations where large numbers of fans are expected.
“Fixed penalty notices are not used for football-related offences, making sure that offenders are charged with the most serious offences their conduct warrants.”
Both Manchester clubs came in second and third in place in the report, while Arsenal – believe it or not – finished in fourth.
