The MLS. A footballers retirement home, or so it has come to be known as over the years.
A number of high profile stars have moved to the United States’ top league over the past years, with increasingly more choosing to end their career across the pond.
The league now plays host to a number of Premier League and European greats. Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Andrea Pirlo and Kaka are just a few of these plying their trade in the MLS currently.
And while admittedly the ‘roster’ (as the Americans themselves would say) does read like a register of 2010’s top players, it is easy to forget that hidden amongst those big names there is also some big talent.
Whether it be homegrown in the US, or players who perhaps didn’t quite manage to do it in Europe, there is plenty on show in America’s premier division. It is not typical to see players move from the MLS to Europe as it is the other way around, but there could be some hidden gems in the league if clubs go looking.
