West Ham waved goodbye today to goalkeeper Darren Randolph as the Republic of Ireland international joined Championship side Middlesbrough in a £5 million deal.

The move brings to an end a two season spell for the 30-year-old shot stopper at the London Stadium after he joined the Hammers from Birmingham City in the summer of 2015. Since the switch, Randolph has made 42 appearances for Slaven Bilic’s side, and last season established himself as the Croatian’s number one choice between the sticks.

The loan signing of Joe Hart at West Ham however all but signalled the end of Randolph’s career at the club, and he will now begin a new adventure with Middlesbrough, who will be looking to bounce straight back into the Premier League after a busy summer.

The ROI keeper is Boro’s sixth signing of the summer after the Teeside club have already secured the services of Jonny Howson, Cyrus Christie, Martin Braithwaite, Connor Roberts and Britt Assombalonga.
