New boys Pablo Zabaleta and Joe Hart encountered each other for the first time in training today as West Ham players after Hart completed his season long loan from Manchester City and subsequently flew out to Austria to meet his new team-mates.

The pair played together for a number of years at the Etihad Stadium, both lifting the Premier League title twice for the Sky Blues.

Hart joined West Ham earlier this week after being frozen out the of the Manchester City squad by manager Pep Guardiola, and is looking to revitalise his career in England with the Hammers having spent last season in Italy with Serie A side Torino.

Zabaleta on the other hand was announced as a Hammer on the opening day of the transfer window having been let go by City at the end of last season.

And it was a case of friends re-united on the training field earlier today, perhaps one that Hart will be hoping to forget however.

‘Welcome to West Ham, my friend!’ screamed Zabaleta as he fired a volley into the top corner of the net past his former City compatriot. Perhaps not the start he had imagined!
