West Ham target Martin Braithwaite has ended speculation about a move to London Stadium after signing for Championship side Middlesbrough on a four-year-contract in a deal worth a reported £9 million.

The Denmark international emerged as a target for the Hammers earlier this month following an impressive season in Ligue 1 with Toulouse in which he found the net 12 times in 36 appearances, however will now be plying his trade for Boro’ next season instead.

Braithwaite becomes Gary Monk’s third signing of the summer after signing Jonny Howson and Cyrus Christie from Norwich and Derby respectively.

The 26-year-old striker has spent four years with the Ligue 1 outfit after joining from Danish First Divison side Esbjerg fB the summer of 2013. In his four seasons with Toulouse, Braithwaite has found the back of the net 40 times and has gone on to make 16 appearances for his national side, scoring once.

Boro’ will now turn their attention to Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga as a partner to their new £9 million hitman.
