West Ham have hit a speed bump in their attempt to sign Inter Milan star and Brazil star Gabriel Barbosa.

Team Talk report that while the Hammers remain keen on the 20-year-old the FA ruling on international appearances stands in their way. The rule states that non-EU players must have played a certain percentage of international games over the past two years depending on their FIFA ranking.

Barbosa has appeared in three competitive games for Brazil although none of them have come in the last 12 months, meaning he may not meet the necessary requirements to join the East London club.

‘Gabigol’ joined Inter Milan last season for a reported £26 million fee, however has had a frustrating first season in Serie A. The Brazilian striker made just one start and ten appearances in total in all competitions, finding the net a solitary time.

West Ham are keen to bring in a new striker ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
