West Ham are set to beat London rivals Chelsea to the signing of former Manchester United star Javier Hernandez, and are prepared to offer the Mexico international an huge £145,000 a week deal, says The Express.
Antonio Conte’s side emerged last week as a surprise contender for the Borussia Monchengladbach striker’s signature amidst long-standing rumours linking him with a move to the London Stadium, however are now not expected to sign the 29-year-old, leaving the way for West Ham to make their move.
The Hammers have been desperate in their attempts to sign a new striker this summer, and after failing to land a number of top targets including Olivier Giroud and Kelechi Iheanacho, Hernandez is now the club’s main priority ahead of the new season.
