Ashley Fletcher today flew home from West Ham’s training camp in Germany to complete his £7 million move to Championship side Middlesbrough, and his departure could pave the way for Burnley star Andre Gray to complete his long rumoured move to the London Stadium.

Gray has been heavily linked with a move away from Turf Moor this summer after a strong debut season in the Premier League, with West Ham believed the be the favourite’s for his signature.

The Hammers failed with a £15 million bid in January to sign the forward and the Englishman has also been linked with a move to Newcastle.

Despite the rumours however, Gray insists he is focusing on being at Burnley and being a ‘better player’, and is enjoying a solid pre-season with Sean Dyche’s side. Gray scored  a hat-trick at Alfreton Town last week and said he is enjoying playing alongside new signing Jonathan Walters who joined from Stoke earlier this summer.

“There’s massive competition and it’s a massive help playing with him, his experience is priceless,” Gray said of Walters. “He’s always talking and you know what you’re going to get from him, so it’s helpful for the whole team.”
