Ashley Fletcher has completed a £6.5 million move to Middlesbrough, only a year after joining West Ham United.

The striker became a Hammer last summer, joining on a free transfer from Manchester United, but has since struggled to establish himself in Slaven Bilic’s squad.

Fletcher made only two starts and 16 appearances in total last season, finding the net just once, that being against his former club United.

The Englishman had been on pre-season with the Hammers, travelling to both Austria and Germany with the squad, however yesterday flew home to complete a deal to the Championship side as he looks for more regular first team action.

In joining Middlesbrough, Fletcher joins a side that is determined to make its way directly back to the Premier League after the disappointment of last seasons relegation.

Manager Garry Monk has already made a number of high profile signings including Martin Braithwaite and Britt Assombalonga, with Fletcher the latest addition to his ever growing squad.
