Slaven Bilic has revealed that midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate has suffered a fresh injury during the Hammers Austrian leg of their pre-season tour of Europe.

The Hammers boss stated that Kouyate suffered the injury in training last week and is still undergoing assessment by medical staff.

Speaking on whufc.com, Bilic said: “The only one problem we’ve had is with Cheikhou, who injured his knee in a very strange and awkward way during training, but apart from that I’m happy with everything.”

Kouyate underwent surgery on a wrist injury in May, missing the last part of the season for West Ham and had only just returned to action, however now looks set for further time on the sidelines following his most recent injury mishap.

The Senegal international is one of a number of players suffering from injury problems for Slaven Bilic’s side, with Diafra Sakho, Pedro Obiang and Mark Noble all recovering from long term injury problems.
