Benfica striker Raul Jimenez has said he is open the a move to the Premier League amidst interest from both West Ham and Liverpool.

The forward scored 11 goals in all competitions for the Eagles last season and his performances in this summer’s confederations cup for Mexico have caught the eye of both clubs who are set to battle it out for his signature this summer.

Jimenez joined Benfica for a club record fee of £18.9 million in 2015 from Atletico Madrid, however the 26-year-olds comments signal his short career in Portugal could already be coming to an end.

Speaking with ESPN (via The Daily Mail), Jimenez said: “The Premier League is a great championship, but you have to wait. I don’t close any doors and we’ll see what happens. I’m still at Benfica. Now, I’m going to have a good vacation then go back to work with everything.

“I saw the news came out but I don’t know anything. I was concentrating on the national team. I have a date to return to Benfica, to join the pre-season games and I’m in the club’s hands.”

The striker is understood to have a €60 million release clause in his contract, however West Ham would be looking to acquire Jimenez for somewhere in the region of €30 million.
