Andre Ayew says he hopes a full pre-season can help him pick up where he left off at the end of last season and continue that good form into the new Premier League campaign.

The Ghanian ended the previous season in great form for Slaven Bilic’s side, finding the net 5 times in 13 games following his return from the Africa Cup of Nations in February.

Having struggled at the beginning of his Hammers career with injury, Ayew is now fully finding is feet in Claret and Blue and believes a summer spent without international duty and with the rest of his team can help him kick on as he did post February.

Speaking on whufc.com, the forward said: “I’m feeling good and working hard. We had long days in Austria and now we’re just at the beginning in Germany and we have a few games to come. We’re working hard here, trying to get fit, working together and getting to know each other, so it’s sweet.

“Pre-season is something which is very, very important and, for me, I’ve not been able to have a real pre-season for a long time because of the international games.”

Ayew joined the Hammers as a then club record signing of just over £20 million from Swansea City last summer, and the 27-year-old is feeling optimistic about his second season at the London Stadium.

“We have another season coming up and we have a lot of objectives ahead of us that we want to achieve as a squad,” he concluded.

“So, I need to continue working hard and doing what we were doing at the end of last season and I’m sure I will get back to my best physically and everything will be OK.”
