West Ham target Anthony Modeste scored 27 times lost last as Fc Koln finished 5th in the Bundesliga last season – there highest ever finish in over 25 years.

The Frenchman – formerly of Blackburn Rovers and Hoffenheim – finished the season as the league’s third top scorer, behind only Robert Lewandowski and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, establishing himself as one of the continent’s hottest hitmen.

A target for the Hammers last summer, Slaven Bilic is expected to once again go in for the FC Koln striker as he looks to reinforce his front line. Reports from Germany only last month suggested that the club were gearing up a £26 million bid for Modeste ahead of the opening of the transfer window.

A bid of that stature means the Irons would break their club record transfer fee – currently held by Andre Ayew at just over £20 million – to acquire the sought-after striker’s services.

While it may be early days – and with The Hammers of course linked with a plethora of other strikers including Olivier Giroud – it’s worth a watch to see what the Frenchman could bring to the London Stadium if a move is to made this summer.

Do you think he would be a good signing?
