West Ham midfielder Havard Nortdveit has left the club after only one season to join Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in a deal worth around £8 million, according to Sky Sports.

Nordtveit – who joined the Hammers from Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer last summer – had a difficult lone season in English football, failing to establish himself as a key member of Slaven Bilic’s side.

Commenting on the move, West Ham manager Slaven Bilic said: “I would like to thank Havard for his commitment and hard work last season. He is an excellent professional and we wish him all the very best at Hoffenheim.”

A Norway international who has earned 32 caps for a country, Nordtveit made only 11 starts in the Premier League for West Ham last season.

The 26-year-old was linked with a number of other Bundesliga clubs earlier in the year, including Hamburg, Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen.
