Bundesliga side Hamburg are reportedly interested in Hammers midfielder Havard Nordtveit, but struggle to match the players wage demands, according to reports from BILD Sport in Germany.

Nordtviet joined West Ham last season from Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer after having impressed in the Bundesliga with his former side, but has since failed to have the same impact at the London Stadium.

The Norway international has struggled to establish himself as a key member of Slaven Bilic’s squad, making only 13 starts in all competitions for the Hammers this season and failing to hit the back of the net.

Only last week Nordtveit admitted that he would “never reject a return to the Bundesliga” amidst interest from a host of clubs from Germany’s top flight, and it now appears Hamburg have joined the race for the out of favour midfielder’s signature.

Hamburg may miss out on the 26-year-old however after admitting they would struggle to match his reported £30,00 a week wage bill.
