West Ham defensive midfielder Havard Nordtveit says he has had a roller-coaster start to his West Ham career, and he is hoping for more stability when he returns for his second season with the Hammers.

The Norwegian international signed on a free transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer but struggled with positional changes and injuries which restricted him to just 16 Premier League appearances.

When asked by Norwegian publication Dagbladet about how he would describe his first season with West Ham, the 26 year old replied:

“Turbulent. It’s been very much up and down. There have been some good games and some terrible battles.”

Later in the interview, Nordtveit reflected that despite the difficulties has has faced at the London stadium, he is taking the positives out of the good displays he managed for the Hammers at the end of the season:

“I had some good games for West Ham at the end of the season and I will take that with me into the break. It was important. Now it’s just [time] to drive on.”

Nordtveit will likely be given more opportunities to impress next season with manager Slaven Bilic not seeking to make wholesale changes to the squad despite the Hammers finishing a disappointing eleventh in the Premier League last campaign.
