Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the £50 million transfer of Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette from Ligue 1 side Lyon, according to reports from The Metro, with the proposed move likely to push Olivier Giroud out of the club.

The Gunners have long been linked with a move for the prolific Frenchman who scored 37 goals in all competitions last season – only last summer did they have a bid rejected for the forward –  however it appears Lyon are now ready to part ways with their prized asset.

Arsene Wenger has been vocal with his club’s need to sign a top striker this summer after their 5th placed Premier League finish last season, and after having an huge £87 bid for Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe rejected, it seems Wenger has now turned his attention to Lacazette.

Should the Lyon man join the Gunners, the move would make way for Olivier Giroud to leave the Emirates in search of first team football, with West Ham the favourites to secure the £20 million rated striker.

Giroud has made 226 appearances for Arsenal – although many coming from the substitutes bench – scoring just shy of a century of goals.
