West Ham are set to lose out on another one of their summer transfer targets as Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore is close to agreeing a deal with Premier League Champions Chelsea, according to the Daily Star.

The Hammers looked set to sign the 21-year-old wide man last week as some betting syndicate’s suspended betting on the alleged move, but again they appeared to have been pipped to the post.

It is not the first time this summer the club have lost out on one of their proposed transfer targets, with FC Koln striker Anthony Modeste recently rumoured to be set for a move to the Chinese Super League; Jordan Pickford joining Everton for a record £30 million and Hull’s Harry Maguire joining Leicester City earlier this month.

It is not the first time that the Hammers have been beaten to a players signature by Chelsea either. Last summer Belgian forward Michy Batshiayu was heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium only to sign for Chelsea instead. Fellow Belgian Romelu Lukaku also moved to the Blues after West Ham tried to sign him from Anderlecht back in 2011.

Slaven Bilic begun his summer business early signing Pablo Zabaleta from Manchester City, but is yet to add any further names to his squad.
