The Huddersfield Daily Examiner have reported that West Ham are set to battle David Wagner’s Huddersfield Town for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere this summer.

Wilshere spent last season on-loan at Bournemouth where he failed to make the impact many had hoped he would, and could now be set to leave The Gunners permanently after failing to prove to manager Arsene Wenger he should be a regular starter for the Frenchman’s side.

The Englishman has one year on his contract at the Emirates left, but it is understood the club are willing to listen to permanent offers for the midfielder.

The Examiner report that according to SkyBet, West Ham and Huddersfield are the two sides most likely to battle it out for the 25-year-old’s services.

Slaven Bilic is looking to strengthen his side after a disappointing last campaign and the departure of a number of his players already this summer, as his David Wagner who will want to do his best to bring in players who can help the club survive their first season in the top flight.

The two clubs have also been linked for a different reason, that being the Terriers pursuit of Hammers youngster Ashley Fletcher, with the Premier League new boys understood to be keen to bring the striker to the John Smith’s Stadium.
