West Ham are plotting a move for highly rated Sampdoria striker Luis Muriel, according to reports from The Sun.

Muriel, 26, only recently signed a new deal with he Serie A club but is reportedly ready to leave Italy. Sampdoria have placed a £24 million release clause on the Colombian strikers contract, a fee that West Ham are reportedly ready to meet.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic has made a striker his top priority this summer, with midfielder Michail Antonio the club top Premier League marksman with nine last term, despite playing much of the season from the full-back position.

Muriel scored 13 times in all competitions for Sampdoria last season, and is also a target for Roma and Leicester City.

Dubbed ‘The Colombian Ronaldo’, the striker joined Sampdoria in 2015 from fellow Serie A side Udinese, and has made 15 senior appearances for his national side, scoring only once, that being in a friendly against Guatemala over four years ago.
