Hammers midfielder Havard Nordtveit has refused to rule out the possibility of a return to Germany in the near future, according to reports from TalkSport.

The former Arsenal midfielder joined West Ham from Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer last summer after having spent five seasons with the Bundesliga side, but after a difficult season in the Premier League, the Norwegian international could be set to make the move back to Germany already.

Nordveit struggled to establish himself as a key player in Slaven Bilic’s side, especially struggling since the turn of the year. The 26-year-old has made only three starts for the Hammers since January 2nd.

With Bayer Leverkusen, Hoffenheim and Wolfsburg all keeping close tabs on the midfielder, Nordveit revealed his frustration at last season and did little to dispel rumours of a move away from the London Stadium:

“It was not like I had envisioned it to be,” Nordtveit told Dagbladet of his first season in East London.

“I still have four years left on my contract with West Ham. Yes, I had success in Germany. Absolutely. I will never rule out a return to the Bundesliga.”
