West Ham fans have expressed their dismay on Twitter after news broke that Leicester City are to launch a £25 million bid for Hammer’s target Kelechi Iheanacho.
Iheanacho, 20, has been told he is free to leave Manchester City as Pep Guardiola is looking to bolster his options up front this transfer period.
Only last month was it reported that the Hammers were favourite to land the out of favour Nigerian hitman, however with a Leicester bid on the horizon and City unlikely to decline, it seems that race may be all but over.
Slaven Bilic is desperate to sign a striker before the season begins in August after a dismal last campaign in front of goal. Michail Antonio finished as the club’s top scorer in the league with 9, followed by Manuel Lanzini with 8, while main striker Andy Carroll managed only a meek 7 goals. The club’s other strikers managed a total of only six between them.
The news of Leicester’s proposed bid, and more importantly West Ham’s inaction, was greeted by fans with anger on Twitter as they continue to be frustrated with their club’s lack of business so far this summer …
But this year all we have to do is bid!!!!! No excuses. Batshuayi might not wanna join but Giroud/Iheanacho are willing. Do it @davidgold

@DaveSulley I and I'm sure a LOT of other West Ham fans would be very annoyed if we missed out on Iheanacho to Leicester. Sort this out !

City want £25 mill for Iheanacho, West Ham bid £24 mill… This is becoming a joke, every year. May as well go for Peter Crouch💤

So West Ham are going to prat about over a buy back clause in the Iheanacho deal & let other clubs have a free run at him. Great.
