Sofiane Feghouli has stated that his future lies with West Ham and that he won’t be looking for a move away from the club anytime in the near future, despite a tough first campaign in English football.

The Algerian international joined the Hammers last summer on a free transfer from Valencia, and while big things were expected of the man who only a year previous had won the LFP ‘Best African Player’ award, he has since struggled for form in what has been a difficult first season in East London.

An injury right at the start of the season meant Feghouli made only 27 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers this season, scoring just 4 goals. On his first Premier League start for the club in January against Manchester United, he was sent-off, although the card was later rescinded.

The struggle this season hasn’t put the former Grenoble star off life at West Ham however. Speaking in an interview with RMC Sport in France he said: “I have two years left at West Ham, and as I said on social media, I see myself staying at West Ham. I’ll start again on the 10th of July with the team. I mean it when I say it, but you don’t control everything in football. I’m not looking for a way out, not at all.

He added: “I’m going to go on holiday calmly and prepare myself for a great season. I’m open for talks with the manager, but there aren’t any planned. Maybe the owner will tell me one day that I need to leave, but I don’t think so.”

Slaven Bilic’s men return for pre-season on July 5th before setting off to Austria, Germany and finally Iceland where they face Manchester City in their final game before the season starts.
