West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to wish teenage star Reece Oxford luck ahead of his proposed season-long loan to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
Reports yesterday from the BBC stated that the 18-year-old had taken a medical and a move to Dieter Hecking’s side was all but done.
Oxford – who became West Ham’s youngest ever Premier League player when he made his debut against Arsenal in 2015 at the age of only 16 years and 168 days – had spent the latter half of last season on loan at Championship side Reading, and is now again set to spend time away from the London Stadium.
A former target for both Manchester clubs last summer, the teenager signed a new four year deal with the Hammers last season, but with playing time limited at the club, a loan move will offer the youngster the chance to gather some invaluable first team football.
Seen by many fans as the shining light of the West Ham academy in recent years, many of taken to Twitter to wish their favourite teenage centre-half luck ahead of the move.

Fascinating move for Reece #Oxford to @borussia_en. They've shown they can really develop young defenders – @ABChristensen96 did so well.

The lad doesn't have to go, but is willing to take himself out of his comfort zone to learn. He will grow fast. GL Reece!

Reece Oxford loaned to German Borussia Monchengladbach. It's great that a English footballer is not afraid to travel abroad to work ✔️
Good luck @Reeceoxford_ in Germany
The decision to move overseas is a brave one for Reece Oxford. If he is dedicated to the change, he will only embolden his character. #whufc
