West Ham and Southampton have reversed two proposed Premier League fixtures for next season.

The news means that West Ham will now travel to St Marys as their second game of the new season on August 19th, and will now welcome to the London Stadium on March 31st of next year, and also means that Slaven Bilic’s side now won’t play their first home game of the season until September 9th when they will host newly promoted Huddersfield Town.

The Hammers were originally set to entertain the Saints in August, however with the World Athletics Championships being held at the London Stadium earlier that month, it was later revealed the venue would not be fit for use for the fixture.

A statement on the club’s official website reiterated however that the recently realised fixture list remains only prospective, stating: “ALL fixtures are still subject to change, with the Sky TV and BT Sport live televised fixtures for the opening two months of the season set to be confirmed in early July, and supporters are urged to bear this in mind when making any travel arrangements for fixtures.”
