The Sun have reported that Chelsea are to target Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski this summer as they search for a replacement for the likely-to-leave Diego Costa, in turn opening the door for Michy Batshuayi to leave the club on-loan.
West Ham, who are in desperate search of a striker ahead of the new campaign, have identified the out-of-favour Chelsea forward as one of their top target’s this summer, however with the future of Diego Costa up in the air and with the Blues yet to find a suitable replacement, Antonio Conte was reluctant to let the Belgian go.
However, with Chelsea how reportedly chasing Lewandowski, it could be they let Batshuayi leave either on-loan or permanently as he would be yet again unlikely to feature heavily next season. The striker himself has spoken of his desire for first time football, saying: “No, no, no. Everyone knows that I have to play more, that I have to score goals” when asked about the potential of another season on the bench at Stamford Bridge.
The 23-year-old made only four starts in all competitions for the Blues last season, yet managed to find the net an impressive 9 times, including scoring the title clinching goal at West Brom back in May.
