Andre Ayew’s father has responded to rumours that his son is set to leave West Ham United this summer for former club Marseille, only a season after joining the Hammers for a club record £20 million.

Ayew joined the club from Swansea after an impressive 15/16 season for the Welsh club, but has since failed to make the same impact at the London Stadium leading to rumours of his potential departure this summer. The Ghanian scored only 6 times in 27 appearances all season and made a mere 3 assists for his team-mates.

Despite the rumours however, Ayew Sr. believes his son’s future still lies in East London.

Speaking with Graphic Sports, he said: “Well I think that it’s just rumours. I have just come from Marseille and nothing like that has been raised.

“But you know in football things happen so fast and we are still looking forward to the few weeks and days ahead of us.”

Perhaps not the most convincing answer, but it appears Ayew will remain a Hammer, for the mean time anyway.
