Ligue 1 side St Etienne have slapped an £8 million price tag on in demand full back Kevin Malcuit amidst interest from both West Ham United and Newcastle, reports TalkSport.

The 25-year-old has attracted the attention of a number of clubs following his impressive performances over the past two campaigns for St Etienne, however it is understood the club are now willing to let him go in order to raise funds for their own summer transfer targets.

Fellow Ligue 1 side Lille are also interested in the player, but recently had a £6 million bid rejected, with St Etienne believed to be demanding a fee of £8 million instead.

Malcuit caught the eye of English club while playing for his current club during the knock-out stages of the Europa League in which they were eventually knocked by by Manchester United.

Should the Hammers want to secure his signature, they will not only have to match the French club’s valuation of the player, but also compete with Newcastle, a club who have an extensive history of signing players from Ligue 1 clubs.
