Diario Gol are reporting that Newcastle have made a bid for Leganes attacking midfielder Gabriel Pires. West Ham and Everton are also reportedly interested in the Brazilian but it seems the Magpies are looking to beat the competition with their offer.
The 23 year old played his first season in La Liga last campaign, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 34 league matches. A former Juventus player, the central midfielder has had loan spells at four different clubs, Pro Vercelli, Pescara, Spezia and Livorno before making the loan switch to Spain to help Leganes gain promotion to the top division in 2016.
He joined the Spanish side permanently last summer for just £850k, but the La Liga minnows will likely make a sizeable profit after just one season, with the player reportedly having a £6million release clause in his contract.
It seems like Newcastle are the front runners now with the club apparently triggering the clause if Diario Gol‘s information is accurate.
