West Ham have joined Marseille in the race to sign Napoli forward Leonardo Pavoletti, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Italian has struggled since making the £15million move from Genoa in the January transfer window. In nine appearances, the 28 year old has failed to score a single goal, although his game time has been severely limited with the forward having only made four starts in four months.

The striker was one of Serie A’s top scorers last season having hit the back of the net 14 times in 25 games for Genoa, but he had a series of injuries during the first half of the season prior to his move to Naples which have no doubt made it difficult for the player to gain any momentum this campaign.

West Ham are seeking to strengthen upfront in the summer with Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll both having missed large parts of the season due to injury leaving manager Slaven Bilic to rely on the likes of Jonathan Calleri and auxiliary forward Michail Antonio.
