West Ham are preparing a bid for Dries Mertens.
According to a report in The Sun Slaven Bilic is prepared to joust with Manchester United and Chelsea for the Napoli forward.
Mertens is about to start the final year of his contract with the Italian side and has resisted attempts to get him onto a new deal.
That has alerted United and Chelsea but it seems that West Ham’s interest in the Belgian internationalist isn’t being discouraged. With more than half of the Belgian international side playing in the Premier League the Napoli man is keen on a move after four seasons at Napoli following his move from PSV Eindhoven.
Mertens has scored 24 Serie A goals this season and can play in any forward position.
With his pace and eye for goal he has caught the eye of Bilic who is looking to drastically alter West Ham’s style of play next season.
