West Ham may make an approach for Pescara midfielder Ahmad Benali, according to the Sun.

The English born Libyan international is believed to be keen on a return to the UK after spending 11 years at Manchester City as a youth player. He moved from City to Brescia in 2012, and then switched to Palermo before transferring to his current club in 2016 after a loan spell.

With Pescara having already been relegated from Serie A, the 25 year old reportedly has interest from Bologna, Genoa and Atalanta that would keep him playing in the top flight of Italian football.

With the player wanting a move back to the country of his birth however, the Hammers seem to be in pole position, although Southampton are also reported to be monitoring the midfielder’s situation.

Benali has scored six goals and provided two assists in 33 games in all competitions this season, and will be available for approximately £3million as Pescara seek to reduce costs after their relegation back to Serie B.
