West Ham’s Head of Medical and Sports Science Stijn Vandenbroucke has failed to give an estimated return date for Hammers forward Andy Carroll.

Manager Slaven Bilic had hoped the striker would be fit to face Tottenham on Friday but the 28 year old remains sidelined with a groin strain. The injury was picked up after miskicking a ball in the early minutes of the 2-2 draw against Sunderland last month. Vandenbroucke told the club’s official website:

“Andy Carroll is continuing with his rehabilitation after suffering a significant adductor strain.”

Bilic felt at the time that although he was 50/50 for the Everton match, he should have been back to face Stoke City. Carroll has now missed three matches in a row with the problem.

It is the striker’s second groin injury in a row after sustaining one in February; missing the matches against West Brom and Watford. Since joining the Hammers in 2013, Carroll has made 114 appearances, playing just 49% of Premier League matches during his time at the club.
