West Ham midfielder Pedro Obiang has revealed that the amount of changes over the past year has led to the squad lacking some of the unity it had during last season.

Speaking exclusively to Hammers.Daily on Instagram, the Spaniard explained to the club’s move to a new stadium and the number of new signings over the summer may have led to this campaign’s difficulties on the pitch:

“The team has lacked unity. This year we’ve grown apart a little, the staff and the group as a whole have suffered as a consequence of it. It’s normal though, there have been lots of changes in a short space of time. We can only learn from this experience.”

Obiang goes on to say that the Hammers will come out of this season stronger because of the challenges they have faced. The 25 year old believes that next campaign the squad should have ambitions of reaching the European places.

Whether they will go into next season with another manager, that is up for debate. Sky Sports have reported today that as expected Slaven Bilic’s position will be assessed at the end of the season as part of the club’s annual review process. The Guardian however say that the Croatian’s future could be decided by the results in the club’s next two home matches against Tottenham and Liverpool.
