Wolves will attempt to sign West Ham forward Toni Martinez on loan for next season, according to the Express & Star.

The local newspaper say the Championship club are keen on the 19 year old after he impressed during his spell on loan in League One with Oxford United during the second half of this campaign.

He played 17 games in all competitions for the U’s, scoring three goals and providing two assists. His two most notable performances came in the FA Cup with goals coming in the fourth round win against Newcastle United and in the fifth round defeat to Middlesbrough.

The Spaniard has also been in excellent form for West Ham’s Under 23 side this campaign, having scored 10 goals in 11 games during the regular season, as well as two vital goals in the playoff final against Newcastle in a 3-1 win which clinched promotion to the Premier League 2 first division.

Speaking to West Ham’s official website after the match, the striker expressed his determination to break his way into Slaven Bilic’s first team plans:

“I know how difficult it is to play for the first team and to break into the squad but I’m going to do my best to try and do this.”
