West Ham are now leading the race to sign Hull City defender Harry Maguire, according to Clubcall.com.

The website report that the 24 year old’s future very much depends on whether the Tigers are relegated from the Premier League this season. The centre back will be high demand in the summer, and Hull may seek to sell if they are in the bottom three at the end of the campaign.

Relegation has become far less of a certainty since the arrival of Marco Silva as manager in January. He has guided the club out of the drop zone to 17th, two points ahead of Swansea City heading into the last six games of the season.

The form of Maguire has coincided with the arrival of Silva. The defender was loaned out to Wigan Athletic during his first season in the Premier League, but was used more often by Steve Bruce last campaign in the Championship.

This season, he started just three games under Mike Phelan until December before establishing himself as a first team regular. He has only missed one match under Silva in the league since he became manager, and that was last time out against Manchester City due to injury.
