West Ham reportedly remain interested in signing Leeds striker Chris Wood, according to calciomercato.com. The Hammers were linked with the New Zealander in January as they sought to strengthen their attacking options.

The 25 year old has gone on to score 25 goals in the Championship this season, making him the league’s top scorer, and it seems his form has now attracted the intereste of other Premier League teams. Calciomercato say that Everton, Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Burnley could make bids, with the player valued by Leeds above £5million.

Whether that would be anywhere enough to land the forward, it is highly doubtful. Aston Villa signed Hammers target Scott Hogan for £12million in January. The striker has gone on to struggle at Villa Park, but he is the same age as Wood, and had scored a similar number of goals to the Leeds striker at the mid way point of the season.

It is likely that Wood would be valued at more than double the figure suggested, and perhaps would go for more if the competition is a fierce as reported.
