Valencia have joined West Ham in the race to sign AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Colombian has been in good goalscoring form recently having scored five goals in his last seven games for the Rossoneri. He was however benched for Milan’s 2-1 home defeat to Empoli last Sunday, and there has been speculation all season that the 30 year old does not get on with manager Vincenzo Montella.

Reports coming out of Italy suggest that if Montella remains Rossoneri boss at the end of the season, Bacca will depart the San Siro. A move to China was mooted in February but the player insisted that he wasn’t motivated by money, reportedly turning down a €12million a year offer from Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian.

West Ham had a £25million bid accepted by Milan for Bacca in the summer but the player decided to remain in Italy. He could be available again in the summer but much may depend on boss Montella’s own future at the club. Milan are currently sixth in the table and the club’s new Chinese owners may decide on their own coach at the end of the season, which could halt any plans on Bacca’s sale.
