Tottenham have joined the race to sign Hull City defender Harry Maguire. The Evening Standard report that Spurs will challenge West Ham, Southampton and Everton who are all believed to be interested in the 24 year old.

The centre back’s contract at the Kcom Stadium expires in 2017, and he has yet to sign a new deal. With only 12 months left to run at Hull, he will be prime target for many Premier League clubs, especially as relegation for the Tigers would likely reduce his asking price further still.

Maguire has had a sharp rise to prominence this season. He moved to Hull in 2014 after starting his career with Sheffield United, but he struggled in his first season at the club and was loaned out to Wigan Athletic.

He played a more prominent role under Steve Bruce last campaign in the Championship but it has only been this season where he has begun to show his quality. It still took him until October to play his first 90 minutes in the league but since December, working mostly under manager Marco Silva, he has become an integral first team player for the Tigers.
